10 LESSONS I LEARNT FROM “YOU ARE A BADASS”

Does anybody else think that the author of “You are a Badass” has a great sense of humour? I got this e-book and added a little audiobook spice to it. The cruise of hearing Jen Sincero read her book made me fall in love with it even more.

I’m a sucker for self help and personal development. The aim is to love myself so much that you’ll want to love me too. You’ll be so jealous of how I love me that you’ll try to love me more.

Lol! No be fight o but you sha get the point.

Funny thing is, even though I had this book, I just wanted to read “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F$&k” (don’t get why they bother sha. We already know what it means) before touching it. Don’t know how I got over that and went straight for this one.

Here are some of the Lessons, I learnt from this amazing book

Become Aware of Your Subconscious Beliefs

You know how you grew up believing a certain thing without ever having a reason to question it. It becomes so ingrained in you that it’s your default. Sadly, some of these may not be healthy and the problem is you might not even know that they exist in your subconscious. When you do something, question it. Most times, we think our conscious self is the one acting but your subconscious is sitting on its throne and smiling because it gat you fo life! So don’t be afraid to notice the things you’re doing wrong, even though your entire household does it and remember You are a Badass.

Drown Yourself in Affirmations

You may or may not have heard this but AFFIRMATIONS are your best friend. During those days or nights when you feel like nothing is working, you might need to just tell or affirm yourself and repeat them so much that your mind starts to believe them:

Oh don’t forget YOU are a Badass.

Surround Yourself with People Who Think the Way You Want to Think

You know how you want to be like Otedola and Dangote and you’re hanging out with folks that only want to talk about other people and gossip. When you’re thinking of starting a business and maybe talking to them about it, they’re busy thinking of how to track down like 5 babes/guys. The frequency needs to be the same. Don’t stress it – leave the relationship. Remember that You are a Badass

Gratitude Brings Abundance

Be grateful and I bet you, God will open more doors. Saying “thank you” is so important that even the Universe appreciates it. Don’t forget to be grateful.

Stop Self-Sabotaging

Sometimes, we want to learn to ride a bike and then we start with excuses like “my neighbor fell down from a bike 35 years ago. It’s dangerous” “Wait! Do you know how long it took me to learn how to drive?” We start to say all the reasons why we cannot and should not bother to learn to ride that bike. Like I said before You are a Badass.

Done is better than perfect

There’s this pressure to be perfect in almost anything we do. This can also be another way for fear to show up and own the moment. See! Don’t worry, just do it. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Just focus on doing it first. Every other thing will be adjusted. While you’re at it, remember that you are a badass.

Stop trying to be liked

I remember when I was young. I wanted to be friends with these set of cool kids. I tried to make sure they liked me. What I didn’t realize was how amazingly cool that so many other people wanted to be my friends. Guess who had her own clique! I realize I am a Badass

Read your Manifesto

You have to write before you read tho. So this Manifesto thing is like a gratitude speech to the universe. The things you want in such a way that the universe has no option than to lay them out for you on a platter of Gold. See ehn! last last you are a badass.

Believe that you come from a place of abundance

You have everything you need. Just believe that. Stop thinking that Nigeria is hard – this one that one. You are wealthy. Na you be baba! When you step they hear “bang”. No worry! Na money dey rush you.

Give yourself permission to be a badass

Most times, we just have this mentality that we’re over doing it. People who are intimidated by your confidence will tell you that you’re too proud. No boo! You are a badass. You deserve to shine. Shine baby shine!

LOVE YOURSELF BECAUSE YOU ARE A BADASS
